If you are a conservative journalist, you are not welcome in the State of California. At least when it comes to certain issues.
Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 1671 into law, which makes it illegal for an investigative journalist to record an abortion provider without their consent. It is a bit of a slippery slope, because it essentially violates the first amendment rights of the press and obstructs them from reporting stories that might be in the public interest, per Breitbart.com.
Planned Parenthood pushed this bill through even though this law is already illegal, but they argued further punishment was needed for those who distribute the materials.
The move was spearheaded by Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez (R-Los Angeles) and comes at a time when abortion providers are under a huge cloud of scandal over their decision to harvest baby parts.
President Cecile Richards attempted to put out the fire when she said last October that Planned Parenthood would no longer accept payments for organs.
But she caused a bit of a further controversy when she said the leaked videos were edited, even though a Democratic research firm itself had been hired by Planned Parenthood and revealed there wasn’t any “substantive video manipulation.”
Additionally, Fusion noted, “Analysts found no evidence that CMP inserted dialogue not spoken by Planned Parenthood staff.”
Of course, it doesn’t matter if they engage in bitter, divisive politics. It doesn’t even matter if they get down and dirty.
Everything is fair game, because they have the California Governor’s Mansion in their back pocket, with a liberal governor who can be bought and sold.
Moreover, Cecile Richards tells everyone they will no longer accept payments for the organs of dead babies? Well, now that recording them is illegal, who is going to know?
