President Obama continues to shred the Constitution and do his best to impose his will on individual states. However, he is forgetting the important concept of states’ rights as outlined in the Tenth Amendment, and Texas in particular is not going to take it any longer.
Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott told the Obama administration they would no longer accept any more refugees until proper security measures are put in place.
The state of Texas officially informed the Office of Refugee Resettlement in a letter that it would be withdrawing from the program effective January 31, 2017. The administration has refused to approve a security plan by the state of Texas in order to provide safety to all of its residents.
There have been many notable terrorist attacks during the last couple of months in this country including a weekend terrorist attack in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.
Because of this, Governor Abbott put his foot down and said not one single refugee would be accepted until an organized plan was put in place.
“The federal government’s refugee settlement program is riddled with serious problems that pose a threat to our nation,” Governor Abbott said in a statement. “The director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the director of national intelligence have repeatedly declared their inability to fully screen refugees from terrorist-based nations. Even with the inability to properly vet refugees from Syria and countries known to be supporters or propagators of terrorism, President Obama is now ineptly proposing a dramatic increase in the number of refugees to be resettled in the U.S.”
Considering the plethora of terrorist attacks in Europe, Abbott is only trying to think ahead for the best possible solution. He doesn’t wish to throw his state under the bus.
Weighing heavily on the governor’s mind has to be the fact that earlier this year an ISIS supporter and Iraqi refugee planned to detonate explosives in a busy Houston mall.
With this move, Governor Abbott has demonstrated that he cares about the Constitution.
Let us join the Texas governor in our continued fight against the far-left policies of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and appeal to people who are increasingly realizing these policies do not work.
