When you control the airwaves, you control public opinion, and as such you control the narrative, that in effect shapes public opinion.
And apparently that’s what CBS News was attempting to do with its misleading hit piece, showcasing how easy it was for someone to walk into a gun store and purchase an AR-15.
According to The Daily Caller, CBS producer Paula Reid visited the Arlington, Virginia gun store SpecDive, and simply lied on the federal applications as to whether she indented to transfer the weapon she was about to purchase to a third party.
CBS, of course, during its broadcast claimed that the weapon was purchased within 38-minutes, and implied it was for Reid, omitting the fact that she purposely mislead the gun shop and, by filing a false federal application, committing a felony that carries a prison sentence upon conviction.
Reporter Kris Van Cleeve reported during the segment, “As for the rifle we legally purchased, it was transferred to a federally licensed firearm dealer and weapons instructor in Virginia following state law within hours of us purchasing the weapon.”
His report leaves the false impression that anyone can walk into a gun shop and simply purchase a weapon with no questions asked. Perhaps if the feds would follow-up and actually pursue felony charges against producer Reid, they might do another segment – this time behind prison bars.
Do you think this producer should be held accountable in a Federal court of law?
