A horde of Muslim refugees attacked and injured 55 local heroes while the officers were trying to stop the mob.
The mob of about 1,100 Muslims from sub-Saharan Africa stormed a border fence while trying to get into Europe around 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day. A Ceuta government representative deemed the attack to have been “extremely violent and organized,” Breitbart reports. The liberal, open borders mainstream media are silent regarding this outrageous incident.
The border fence this horde was attempting to jump was a “high double” barricade between the Spanish region of Ceuta and Morocco.
One police officer lost an eye during the attack. Ceuta and Melilla, another Spanish territory, are the only places in North Africa that border the European Union.
The brave police officers were able to stop every single Muslim from getting through the border fence. Two of the attackers were seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.
A similar border rush was conducted by Muslims in the same area on December 9, 2016. More than 400 Muslim migrants swarmed the tiny Ceuta enclave during the first attempt to cross the border into Europe.
The Muslims reportedly attempted to “force open some of the doors in the external fence, using iron bars, wire cutters, and large stones with which they assaulted Moroccan forces and (Spanish) Guardia Civil (police) agents,” the Ceuta government representative also told the media.
A total of five Spanish police officers and 50 members of the Moroccan military forces were injured during the New Year’s Day attack. A Moroccan interior ministry statement also indicated ten of the military security forces who were harmed in the attack are still in serious condition.
During the attack, about 100 of the Muslims managed to climb up the outer border fence. They remained seated at the top for many hours. Local reporters captured footage of the migrants sitting rather uncomfortably on the 20-foot tall fence surrounded by rolls of barbed wire.
Ceuta and Melilla are often targets of Muslim and African migrants who are trying to cross into Europe. Some try and succeed in making it out of the country by climbing the border fence while others hide in ferry vehicles or swim along the coastline.
Earlier today, a French national was stopped and arrested after he was caught attempting to board a ferry leaving Ceuta. The man was driving a camper van containing 12 Algerians hiding inside.
