This slap in the face to the Obama legacy could not have come at a worse time for Democrats. The bad news proves Donald Trump and millions of Americans were absolutely right about the president’s socialistic policy.
BlueCross BlueShield just announced it will not sell Obamacare health insurance policies in Nashville, Memphis, or Knoxville, Tennessee next year.
The company blamed the yanking of plans on the $500 million in losses it sustained, WND reports.
“We have tried to make the Affordable Care Act marketplace model work for Tennessee, but we believe there are too many uncertainties to continue participating on a statewide level as we have before,” said a statement from BlueCross BlueShield.
Liberals like to claim that five million Americans were able to secure “affordable” healthcare because of Obama’s signature legislation.
What Obama and his minions do not want to say is that about seven million Americans lost coverage because they could not afford to pay the exorbitant new monthly premiums or the outlandish deductibles.
“BlueCross committed early to the ACA marketplace and has been the only health insurer to offer coverage options in every region in the state since 2014,” the statement from BlueCross BlueShield also read. “And we have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of three years on ACA plans, which is unsustainable.”
About 100,000 Tennessee residents will soon lose their health coverage and be forced to try and find another plan.
“Tennesseans continue to bear the brunt of Obamacare’s failures, whether it was the loss of our Obamacare co-op, the closure of CoverTN, or today’s news that our largest insurer will be exiting the marketplace altogether in certain regions of the state,” said Tennessee Republican Representative Diane Black. “As a nurse, it pains me to know how this will impact real people throughout Tennessee—the latest victims of President Obama’s lie that ‘if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.’
“To make matters worse, there is still no law in place to protect taxpayers from Obamacare fines in the event that all insurers pull out of a particular marketplace.”
Just like a copious amount of economists predicted, Obamacare is extremely unaffordable for the middle class, which is now forced to pay for the subsidies given to low-income Obamacare applicants.
Before Obamacare became the law of the land, the quality Anthem policy for a family of three we had carried a $358 per month premium and a $1,500 deductible.
Being small business owners, our health care coverage was never attached to an employer.
The cheapest Obamacare plan, which covered virtually nothing including the doctors who service the local in-network hospital, was $1,200 a month with a $12,500 deductible.
We simply cannot afford a third term of Obama via a Hillary Clinton administration.
