Ever since New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie dropped out of the Republican primary race and threw his support behind then-front-running candidate Donald Trump, many speculated that he would be rewarded with a position in a potential Trump administration.
It appears that Christie has already been tapped as the best person for a job by the billionaire businessman, as Christie was just named as chairman of Trump’s transition team, according to The Daily Caller.
Christie will head up a team of individuals that will search for and vet the best possible candidates to fill out all of the major positions in a Trump administration.
“I am honored by the confidence being placed in me by Mr. Trump and look forward to putting together a first-rate team to assemble an administration to help best serve the president-elect and the nation,” read a statement from Christie released by the Trump campaign.

The campaign made clear that Christie would be overseeing “an extensive team of professionals preparing to take over the White House, and all that entails, in the fall.”
The fact that he will head up the team picking individuals to fill out Trump’s administration, instead of being one of those being vetted, along with his obvious loyalty and friendship with Trump, have only fueled speculation that Christie is still a top candidate for the vice presidential slot on a Trump ticket.
Trump’s contribution to the statement could add to that possibility.
“Governor Christie is an extremely knowledgeable and loyal person with the tools and resources to put together an unparalleled transition team, one that will be prepared to take over the White House when we win in November,” Trump said in the statement.
“I am grateful to Governor Christie for his contributions to this movement,” Trump added.
This is big news for Chris Christie, and signals that he wields influence with Trump and will most certainly play a prominent role in a Trump administration, though that role may remain undefined for the time being.
