Hours after EgyptAir Flight 804 disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea en route from Paris to Cairo, officials chose their words carefully, saying they were ruling nothing out in the investigation.
But not Donald Trump, who tweeted Thursday morning that it “[l]ooks like yet another terrorist attack,” remarking upon the flight departing from Paris.
“When will we get tough, smart and vigilant? Great hate and sickness” Trump tweeted.
French President François Hollande said at a news conference that information gathered pointed to the flight crashing, adding that “no hypothesis should be ruled out.”
At a subsequent news conference in Cairo, Egyptian civil aviation minister Sherif Fathy asked people to stop speculating about the cause of the disappearance until physical evidence is found.

“Until we find the wreckage, we won’t be able to provide information. We have to provide our work in a very accurate way,” Fathy said, according to a live broadcast translation. “This does not mean we are denying the hypothesis this was a terrorist attack or denying the other hypotheses.”
The airline said earlier Thursday that it denied “all misleading information published by news websites and on the social media channels regarding the reasons of the disappearance of EGYPTAIR flight MS804 and the company confirms that the reason of disappearance hasn’t been yet confirmed,” it said in a news release. “EGYPTAIR Calls for media resources to be assured of the information they post or release and to abide by the official press releases issued by EGYPTAIR media center. We will update you with any news.”
