House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz has issued an order that’s going to prove a thorn in Hillary Clinton’s side for months to come.
What’s the deal?
Here’s a hint: It’s another ding to Clinton’s so-called campaign of transparency and a simultaneous boost to Donald Trump’s campaign, who has attacked her lack of trustworthiness from day one.
Proud Conservatives reports:
“The House Oversight Committee has ordered the website Reddit to preserve copies of posts purportedly published by the computer technician who appears to have asked for advice for how to strip Hillary Clinton’s email address from her emails.”
This is quite a development in the case of Paul Combetta, a tech with a Denver-based computer company who helped establish and manage Clinton’s private and home-based email server. Combetta’s posts on Reddit mysteriously disappeared this week, at the height of interest generated by several technicians who were due to appear before Congress and tell what they knew about working with Clinton.
An obviously angry Chaffetz told the Hill the congressional order “has the weight of law, you can’t destroy things and hope things magically get erased.”
The posts appear to have been generated by someone who uses the handle “stonetear.” And “stonetear” asks other users for information on stripping out email addresses, making clear the advice is needed to clear the account of a “VIP,” Proud Conservatives reported.
The post, published July 24, 2014, reads: “Basically, they don’t want the VIP’s email address exposed to anyone, and want to be able to either strip out or replace the email address in the to/from fields in all of the emails we want to send out.”
And as Proud Conservatives notes: The post was published the day after the House Select Committee on Benghazi and the State Department agreed that Clinton’s work-related emails would be turned over for congressional scrutiny.
“If ‘stonetear’ is Combetta,” the blog opined, “as seems likely, the Reddit post would not be the first example of the technician engaging in an apparent cover-up.”
What else was he allegedly involved in?
He’s the same tech who used BleachBit to delete backups of Clinton’s emails back in March of 2015.
