Customers Mock McDonald’s Worker, Have No Idea He’s About to Make Them Famous

Many people might consider a job at McDonald’s something to mock, but one McDonald’s worker decided he’d had enough of customers ridiculing him and vented on Facebook with a post that thousands of people have shared — and when you read it, you’ll want to share it, too.

Mike Waite, who is employed at a McDonald’s in Edinburgh, U.K., defended his job, saying he works 50 hours a week because not because he has no “aspiration, motivation or intelligence … but for the opposite … because in a few months time like a great number of people I work with I will be going back into higher education.”

Waite praised those he works with, and said they have strengths he wished he had and have overcome situations he never could.

He added they have the “determination to not fade away on handouts but rather step up and work for their living unlike a huge number of people in this country.”

He added that in the past, he has worked with “very rich folks in very high end jobs, and a few of them could never match the resilience and work ethic of some of the current lads/lassies” working at McDonald’s.

Waite went on to say that working at McDonald’s has its negatives just like any other job, but at the end of the day, it isn’t that terrible. He was simply glad to work at a place that allowed him to be flexible with his schedule so he could attend school.

Waite might have felt he was defending his job, but he was also doing much more — he was exhibiting a work ethic that we don’t see enough of these days. For every Mike Waite out there, it seems there are three, four or five people who would rather sit at home and receive welfare benefits.

Waite’s pride in his job will get him far in life because he is doing the best that he can and at the same time building strength and character.
