When then-President Bill Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton invited Mother Teresa to speak at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in 1994, the Roman Catholic nun and missionary used the opportunity to deliver a scathing message to them both about the horrors of abortion.
“The greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself,” Mother Teresa said about halfway through her speech, according to TheBlaze.
“And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” she asked. “How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion?”
Mother Teresa went on to use the word abortion 14 more times during her speech, and every time she did, it likely made the blood of the Clintons boil, as it was well known then (and now) that they believed in the murder of unborn children.
“Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want,” she continued, adding that it concerned her how so many liberals fretted over the injustices faced by children living in poverty, yet turned a blind eye to the injustice of abortion.
“This is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today — abortion, which brings people to such blindness,” she remarked, arguing that the child “is God’s gift to the family.”
You can watch her full speech here, but the relevant portion begins at about the 13:30 mark:
After the speech, Mother Teresa received heartfelt applause from everyone — except for Bill and Hillary Clinton, who reportedly neither applauded nor smiled. Instead they stared ahead like statues.
I can only assume that they hated her speech because it contained what most liberal loathe most in this world: the truth.
