Obama’s apologists can lie and obscure the truth all they want, but the statistics do not lie.
One upsetting statistic is about food stamps. In 2009, 33,490,000 people received food stamp benefits. As of October 2016, 44,219,123 individuals receive food stamp benefits, an increase of about 10,729,000, as per Breitbart.
This 10.7 million increase also represents a 32 percent jump, so it basically means that all of the hullabaloo about America prospering under Obama was nothing more than liberal spin. Yet again, we are seeing that liberal policies do not provide prosperity.
Considering that the U.S. population, as of October 2016, is 324,607,826 people, these 44 million individuals on food stamps make up roughly 13 percent of the population. Compare that to 2009 when 10.9 percent of our people were on food stamps.
To make matters worse, the cost of food stamp benefits to the taxpayers has also increased.
In 2009, food stamp recipients received up to $50.3 billion in benefits, but now that Obama is about to leave office, that number has risen to $66.6 billion.
Besides, this increase in cost doesn’t even translate to a significant increase in benefits for those on food stamps! In 2009, the monthly benefit was $125.31, and in 2016, the benefit was $125.51 – an increase of a whopping 20 cents over the course of eight years.
All of this leads to one inevitable conclusion. The United States continues to approach a major meltdown because of the strain of attempting to support so many people.
These new people on the food stamp program used to be in the workforce, supporting themselves, but now, for some reason, they are no longer able to do so. Does America want to go the way of Greece? Because it would happen under tax-and-spend liberalism.
Luckily, one thing is for certain. So far, Donald J. Trump has been one of the most successful president-elects in modern history! He has already kept jobs from travelling overseas, saving the livelihood of thousands of Americans. His brand of leadership is something that is sorely needed in our country.
The number of food stamp recipients is going to go down under a President Trump. He is going to do everything in his power to put Americans back to work where they belong.
