After FBI officials recently interviewed Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, they reportedly confirmed their intention to interview Clinton herself, though they stopped short of specifying an exact date.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the interview with Abedin occurred on April 5 and lasted about two hours, during which time officials questioned the top Clinton aide over her boss’s handling of classified information on a private email server.
Citing unnamed officials, CNN added that investigators had yet to unearth enough evidence to prove without a shred of doubt that Clinton violated federal law, though the upcoming interview with the former secretary of state herself could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Clinton nevertheless remained confident that she would ultimately be vindicated.
“From the start, Hillary Clinton has offered to answer any questions that would help the Justice Department complete its review, and we hope and expect that anyone else who is asked would do the same,” Brian Fallon, one of her campaign spokesmen, said to the Times.
“We are confident the review will conclude that nothing inappropriate took place,” he added.
Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, disagreed, citing “the gross negligence Hillary Clinton displayed as Secretary of State when she set up an off-the-books email server that exposed classified information on thousands of occasions.”
“This reckless attempt to skirt government transparency laws put our national security at risk, and underscores just how big of a risk a Hillary Clinton presidency truly is,” he continued.
True. By using a private email address on a personal server to send and receive State Department-related correspondence, she did in fact put our national security at risk, thus inadvertently demonstrating why she is not fit to be president.
Whether she in the process actually violated any laws, however, remains to be seen.
