Final Countdown: Trump Likely Down To 2 Serious VP Contenders… They Are…

For months people have been speculating about who Donald Trump would pick as his running mate.

Now we know that the process is winding down. Trump has said that he will announce his VP pick before the convention, which is just three weeks away.

The betting odds are that Trump will go with someone with governing experience who is also broadly acceptable to both the Republican base and establishment class.

Trump has a ton of business experience, but governement requires a very different set of skills and it is clear from his finalists that Trump understands that.

Washington Post has more…

Donald Trump’s campaign has begun formally vetting possible running mates, with former House speaker Newt Gingrich emerging as the leading candidate, followed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. But there are more than a half dozen others being discussed as possibilities, according to several people with knowledge of the process.

That doesn’t mean that a dark horse won’t emerge…

A number of senators — including Jeff Sessions (Ala.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.) — are also being reviewed as viable picks, although the extent to which they are being vetted is unclear. A longer shot on Trump’s radar is Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, a heavyweight on the right who could bolster Trump’s tepid support among some conservative activists.

In our recent poll, we asked Patriot Journal readers who they thought Trump should pick. The results were overwhelming.
