Former Coal Executive Found Murdered In West Virginia, Suicide Ruled Out As Cause

I used to be into conspiracies a lot more than I am now. I know one plus one equals two in many instances but sometimes that equation stinks and this stinks. West Virginia coal country is not happy with the Democratic Party, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. They have seen jobs leave their state under the current administration who promised to bankruptcy the industry as the new candidate of choice Clinton vows to finish the job.

Just a couple of weeks ago, presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump won the state in a huge way for the Republican side as many residents went to the polls to show Clinton the state will be up for grabs in November.

On Monday morning, Ben Hatfield, a longtime coal executive was found murdered near a cemetery where he was visiting the graves of his wife and other family members. The police on the scene have ruled out suicide, let me say that again, suicide has been ruled out. Who would do something like this? Why did I mention the Obama and the Clintons earlier, just call it a writer’s choice?

Mingo County deputies say they are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in a wooded area near a cemetery in Maher.

The man’s body was found around 6:30 Monday morning at the Mountain View Memory Garden Cemetery along Route 52.

Mingo County Sheriff James Smith says the victim was shot while visiting the graves of his wife and in-laws who are buried there.

West Virginia State Police crime scene investigators and deputies spent the day searching for clues in the area. “I think it’s safe to say this time we’ve ruled out suicide,” Smith said.

Smith said there are no suspects at this time and it’s unclear what led up to the shooting.

The victim was reported missing by his girlfriend on Sunday evening from Kanawha County after he didn’t return home.

“Somehow the information got to Martin County and Martin County got in touch with Pike County. I guess it was pinging the cell phone, the last time he might have used his cell phone and then it turned out to be over here in Maher, West Virginia,” Smith said.

The body was found in a wooded area along the edge of the cemetery. The man’s SUV was still parked near the grave sites on Monday afternoon.

Deputies are asking anyone who was at the cemetery between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday to call them. “If they drove by here and seen vehicles or if they pulled in here to decorate a plot, they might not have realized what was going on. It might have been a little bit after or before so any information we can get around that time,” Smith said.

So let me open up the comments for your opinion and thoughts. Where are you on this murder? What do you think happened?
