As the polls predicted, Tuesday was a good day for real estate mogul Donald Trump. Trump swept all five of Tuesday’s primaries, not only winning each of them by wide margins but also taking more than 50% of the vote.
Pennsylvania was the largest prize of the day with a total of 71 delegates ate stake. Trump is guaranteed to take at least 17 of those delegates to the convention, but the precise delegate breakdown is of yet unknown due to the fact that the commonwealth’s 54 congressional district delegates are unbound.
Senator Ted Cruz had a disappointing day, finishing in third place in all but the Pennsylvania primary. Cruz is now hoping that a victory in the Indiana primary on May 5th can prevent Trump from gaining the 1,237 delegates needed to win the GOP nomination on the first ballot.
