Hey Kaeperdick, Here’s What A REAL Athlete Does To Better His Community—41 Million Reasons Why You SU*K!

Colin Kaepernick has been immensely criticized for his refusal to stand for the national anthem. His response is that he is trying to speak out against the injustices that African Americans under. However, there is another athlete who is far more of a high profile man whose actually doing something to improve his community with something tangible. Lebron James.

With the University of Akron James will give a guaranteed four year scholarship to students who qualify as part of the “I Promise” program. James intends on provide more than 1,100 scholarships to at risk youths.

Business Insider reported,

“The LJFF targets children in 3rd grade, because research has shown students that age become most at risk for dropping out of school later in life. The third graders are given mentorship throughout the rest of their schooling; so far more than 1,100 students have been mentored by the program since it was created six years ago.

When the third graders reach their senior year, if they’ve maintained a 3.0 GPA, they’ll be offered 4-years of college tuition to the University of Akron, paid for by LJFF. There is no timetable on this pledge, and with more than 1,000 students currently on track to receive the scholarship, James’ foundation could be spending more than $41 million to help the students receive college degrees. The LJFF also helps parents who never received high school diplomas get their GEDs.”

Fox Sports reported,

the scholarship will cover tuition and the university’s general service fee — currently $9,500 per year.”

The price tag on this college education program could be up to $41 million. The “I Promise” program is a large part of the Lebron James Family Foundation which James originally founded.

This is something that could have a tremendously large impact on the local community and it’s all thanks to James. Take note Colin. Instead of pontificating at the bully pulpit with your armchair liberal ideas why don’t you do something that actually makes a difference. Walk the walk don’t just talk the talk.
