A Democrat congressman has decided to funnel all of his righteous indignation at the Orlando terror attack toward a boycott that he believed would somehow combat the “contrived gravity and tepid smugness” of Congress.
Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., declared he would boycott of moments of silence dedicated to the victims of terror attacks because those moments apparently mock victims.
In a speech before the House on Monday, Himes said moments of silence are nothing but a symbol of Congress’ lack of a legislative solution to prevent mass shootings, according to The Hill.
“Silence. Not me. Not anymore. I will no longer stand here absorbing the faux concern, contrived gravity and tepid smugness of a House complicit in the weekly bloodshed,” Himes said angrily.
As usual, the leftists were out in full-force using a tragedy to advance their anti-gun agenda.
Himes’ claim that concern for the families was fake and contrived was offensive to anyone with half a brain. He accused the House for being complicit in the bloodshed because it hasn’t passed any legislation to fix anything.
He also said that moments of silence mock victims.
I will not attend one more”Moment of Silence” on the Floor. Our silence does not honor the victims, it mocks them. pic.twitter.com/VWWdOkliWN

Those who suggest that moments of silence “do nothing” are disrespecting victims, and they are preventing others from offering some sort of condolences to them. Boycotting a moment of silence is nothing more than a gimmick to bring the gun-grabbing agenda into the limelight.
As every liberal does, Himes missed the point that removing guns from law-abiding citizens opens the door to more bloodshed because evil people will always have access to weapons that kill. Guns help us protect ourselves from them.
Access to guns is severely hindered in Belgium, France, and California, but that didn’t stop the perpetrators of the Brussels, Paris or San Bernardino attacks over the past year.
Himes’ boycott was reminiscent of the sick attack the New York Daily News made against God and Christianity when it declared that prayers won’t fix anything after the San Bernardino attack.
Himes wants to appear compassionate, but he only comes off as unfeeling, and his righteous anger looks foolish because we know any boycott like this is rooted in the left’s desire to control our lives and everything we do.
