The mother of a Benghazi victim who blames Hillary Clinton for her son’s death will attend the third presidential debate on Wednesday — as a VIP guest of Donald Trump.
Pat Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, a State Department IT consultant killed during the terrorist attack in Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, told Yahoo News she would accept the mogul’s invitation to the final showdown between the candidates in Las Vegas.
“I want to look in Hillary’s eyes, and have her lie to me again,” Smith told Yahoo News.
In Smith’s speech to the Republican National Convention in July in Cleveland, she directly blamed Clinton for the death of her son.
“I blame Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son,” she said at the political convention. “Personally.”
It’s the second debate at which Trump — trailing badly in national polls — has tried to throw off his rival with his choice of invitees.
At the second, town hall-style faceoff, Trump brought along three women who have accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault or harassment: Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones. Trump also brought Kathy Shelton, whose accused rapist was defended by Hillary Clinton 40 years ago.
Trump held an impromptu press conference with the women before that presidential debate.
