Leaked emails appear to show that top officials at the Democratic National Committee openly mocked and criticized Bernie Sanders during the primary race against Hillary Clinton.
On Friday, WikiLeaks posted close to 20,000 emails and 8,000 attachments sent or received from top Democratic officials.
The documents suggest the committee’s chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and other higher ups were trying to sway the contest in Clinton’s favor.

Some of the leaked emails show a calculated effort to undermine Sanders over his religious beliefs.
In an email dated May 5, the chief financial officer of the Democratic National Committee, Brad Marshall, suggested attacking Bernie Sanders over his Jewish faith, or possible lack thereof.
“It might [make] no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist,” the email says.
In a May 21 email, Wasserman Schultz dismisses Sanders, even though there were still nine primaries left.
“This is a silly story,” she wrote. “He isn’t going to be president.”
In another email, she reacted to Sanders’ claims that the party hadn’t treated him fairly.
“Spoken like someone who has never been a member of the Democratic Party and has no understanding of what we do.”
