Most people remember the night when Republican front-runner Donald Trump ditched a Fox News debate and instead spearheaded a fundraiser at the same time. While the candidates were bickering away, Trump raised millions of dollars for our nation’s veterans.
However, when his campaign wasn’t able to follow through with exactly $6 million in donations, the media jumped on him. Unfazed by the attacks, Trump fired back.
“I raised almost $6 million for the veterans, including putting up almost $1 million of my own money. I had no obligation to do anything or to do so,” Trump said in an Instagram video on Tuesday, according to BizPac Review. “And I get nothing but bad press from the dishonest media.”
“It is absolutely disgraceful,” he continued. “Why don’t they look into the Clinton Foundation if they want to see dishonesty?”
He hit the nail on the head. A couple of individuals backing out of their donations is nothing compared to the egregiousness of the Clinton Foundation’s corruption, which has been a prominent factor in building the Clinton’s empire.
This entire situation serves as another testament to Trump’s massive success on the campaign trail. The media has given him billions of dollars in coverage — much of it being negative — and he seems to get a spike in his poll numbers every time he releases a video on social networks shutting the mainstream media down.
It needs to be noted that the criticism Trump espouses is completely sensible. In 2016, ABC, CBS and NBC all spent under five minutes combined discussing the massive scandals surrounding the Clinton Foundation, according to a Newsbusters investigation.
In the coming days, the attacks will become more absurd when the media cannot find any dirt on Trump and have to resort to lies to keep their ratings up.
And while all this occurs, the Clinton Foundation corruption will continue to be swept under the rug.
