Shocking passages from a newly released book by Lezley McSpadden, the mother of deceased Ferguson criminal Michael Brown, revealed that his father was an abusive, controlling and paranoid man who once almost killed her.
“All of a sudden Mike got quiet and kicked me with all his might in my leg,” she wrote about her first physical confrontation with Brown’s father, Michael Brown Sr., in 1997, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.
“‘Ouch! Did you just f***ing kick me?’ I winced, stumbled then kicked him right back,” her story continued. “His fist immediately barreled into my back. I punched him in return. Next thing you know we were swinging at each other.”
Sadly, this fight marked the beginning of many more to come, all of them inspired by Michael Brown Sr.’s unrelenting jealousy and suspicion.
The book detailed many more examples just like this, as well as a scathing of indictment of Brown Sr., as lazy and prone to cheating.
When at last McSpadden grew tired of her husband’s pathetic behavior, which involved sitting at home watching TV while she worked two jobs, she tried to leave him, only to find the barrel of a shotgun shoved down her throat.
“He started to choke me with it,” she wrote. “I was gasping for breath. I could hear my babies screaming in the background. Tears flowed down my face. ‘God, please don’t let me kids see this. God, don’t let this man kill me.’”
Thankfully, she managed to wriggle free and escape, though by then, it was already too late — her son had already seen and heard too much. Judging by his own history of criminal behavior, he had learned too much as well.
And so it happened that he eventually wound up turning into a bully and thug just like his father, the difference being that justice finally caught him up to him in 2014, when Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson shot him in self-defense.
What’s sad is that Mike Brown’s mother has apparently never made the connection between the unhealthy environment she foisted on her son and the way he turned out.
Instead she focused her memoir on “the devil,” i.e., the allegedly unfair criminal justice system, which in reality did absolutely nothing wrong in how it handled Brown.
There were so many lessons to be learned from her son’s unfortunate death, but clearly, she hasn’t learned a thing.
