Troy Maxham placed a sign that read “Muslim Free Zone” on the outside of his home.
The Vermont resident and U.S. Army veteran’s sign got the local liberal establishment so upset that they demanded the sign be removed. Authorities told The Barre Montpelier Times Argus newspaper that they considered the sign to be protected by the First Amendment’s freedom of speech.
“It’s considered free speech protected by the First Amendment,” said local police.
This didn’t stop the outrage of one local, who wrote to The Times Argus to make her point.
“While the sign is on private property, it is in public view, and its message is in direct conflict with the values we as Americans are supposed to hold dear,” she wrote.
Apparently freedom of speech guaranteed by the First Amendment is in direct conflict with the values that we as Americans are supposed to hold dear, according to those who would force their opinions on the rest of us.
It’s no wonder why Maxham supports presidential candidate Donald Trump, with Trump’s campaign focused on freedom of speech and an end to the political correctness that has gotten the country so upside down that it’s considered intolerant to disallow a man from going into the women’s bathroom.
Had Maxham’s sign been on a business, it’s hard to say whether it would have been considered free speech.
With recent court rulings forcing businesses to accommodate values that business owners don’t agree with, it’s good to know that free speech still extends to one’s own home — at least for now.
