It’s hard to list Obama’s most reckless foreign policy, but the Iran nuclear deal has to be near the top.
After the Obama administration gave Iran all it wanted on the nuclear deal, the Islamic republic hijacked one of our Navy ships and humiliated our sailors in January.
Secretary of State John Kerry then thanked the Iranians for releasing our sailors.
A Wall Street Journal report revealed on Wednesday that the US sent a plane loaded with $400 million of cash to Iran during the prisoner exchange. Obama also authorized a $1.7 billion payment to Tehran at the time.
Critics say the $400 million was a ransom payment.
The State Department claims it is simply a “pure coincidence” that a sum was suddenly sent at the exact same time American prisoners were released.
President Obama defended the year-old accord on Thursday, which grants the Iranians a clear path to a nuclear weapon after a decade and makes no limitations on terror funding or ballistic missile testing, and vehemently denied that the $400 million was ransom to free American hostages.
He said the settlement was to settle a failed 1979 arms deal in which Iran paid for weapons that were not delivered after the Shah was overthrown.
The nuclear deal signed between Iran and the West is so successful, Obama claimed, that even Israel acknowledges this fact.
This is a flat out lie.
Israel bitterly rejects Obama’s claim. Israeli officials do not back the Iran nuclear deal. The Israeli Defense Ministry, in fact, compares the accord to the Munich Agreement with the Nazis in 1938.
In a highly unusual statement, the Defense Ministry says the lessons of the failed 1938 agreement with Nazi Germany “also hold true for Iran.”
From Times of Israel:
“The opposite is the case. The time that has elapsed since the deal was signed proved all our worries that, regrettably, we were justified before the deal was made,” said [Tzachi] Hanegbi, a minister who works in the Prime Minister’s Office and who until recently chaired the Knesset’s powerful Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
The Defense Ministry employed similar language in Friday’s rejection of Obama’s claim.
“The Munich Agreement didn’t prevent the Second World War and the Holocaust precisely because its basis, according to which Nazi Germany could be a partner for some sort of agreement, was flawed, and because the leaders of the world then ignored the explicit statements of [Adolf] Hitler and the rest of Nazi Germany’s leaders,” the ministry said.
“These things are also true about Iran, which also clearly states openly that its aim is to destroy the state of Israel,” it said, pointing to a recent State Department report that determined that Iran is the number one state sponsor of terrorism worldwide.
The Defense Ministry further said the deal reached “only damages the uncompromising struggle we must make against terrorist states like Iran.”
Netanyahu remains openly critical of the agreement, which he says paves Iran’s path to a nuclear arsenal.
The nuclear agreement “removes the restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program based on dates certain, rather than on changes in Iran’s aggressive behavior, including its support for terrorism around the world,” a senior Israeli official told The Times of Israel two weeks ago. “The deal doesn’t solve the Iranian nuclear problem, but rather delays and intensifies it.”
In the tradition of Obamacare, we need to let Iran have nukes to discover if they will use them.
The Democrats and the liberal media accused Ronald Reagan of trading arms for hostages and wanted to impeach him for it. Liberals and their cohorts in media yawned about Obama’s giving Iran millions to fund terrorism, and change the subject back to Trump and the Khan story.
Iran has irrefutably been the major source of funding for Hamas, Hezb’allah, and other terrorist groups. The Islamic Republic has vowed to destroy Israel and there is no evidence that Iran has renounced its intent to destroy the only democratic state in the Middle East.
As his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, formed the policies in the Middle East, a Clinton presidency will be Obama’s pro-Islam and pro-Islamic terrorism third term.
The accord, which began its formal implementation in January, will expire in 15 years.
