Prince Henry of Wales, commonly known as Prince Harry, continues to follow in his mother’s benevolent and gracious footsteps.
He is well known for his consistent support for veterans as well as the common people. After gunman Omar Mateen mowed down dozens of people in the Pulse nightclub June 12, Prince Harry decided to stand in solidarity with the city. He expressed his condolences to the mayor of Orlando by writing him a moving letter.
The letter is dated June 14. In it, the prince shared several heart-felt sentences expressing his support of the mayor and Orlando during this extreme tragedy.
“I wanted to write and express my most sincere condolences to the people of Orlando after the horrific attack on the Pulse nightclub,” Harry wrote.
“Having just spent time in Orlando I know what a warm and welcoming community it is. In spite of this senseless act, I have no doubt that the love and friendship of your city will remain strong.” He had recently spent time in Orlando, planning the Invictus games, a series of athletic events where wounded veterans compete in various sports.
Prince Harry remembered to thank the Orlando law enforcement officers, praising them for their bravery under the most extreme circumstances.
“I would also like to pass on my deepest admiration to the law enforcement officers who attended the nightclub during the attack for their extraordinary bravery and professionalism.”
He ended with this encouragement:
“Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones at this most difficult of times. You are all in our prayers as you face the days and weeks ahead.”
