The Clinton money-go-round continues to spin as a new report says that John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager and longtime Clinton family crony, sat on the board of a small energy company alongside Russian officials that benefitted from a Putin-connected Russian government fund to the tune of $35 million. Furthermore, Podesta failed to fully disclose the relationship on his federal financial disclosures as required by law.
The revelation is part of a report by the Government Accountability Institute entitled “From Russia With Money: Hillary Clinton, the Russian Reset, and Cronyism.” The 56-page report details the ways in which the Clinton family and loyalists like Podesta funneled Millions of Russian Rubles into the Clinton Foundation and various corporate ventures during Secretary of State Clinton’s now infamous “Russian reset” foreign policy initiative.
The report claims that in 2011, Podesta joined the executive board of three related companies: Joule Unlimited, a small Massachusetts-based energy company; its holding company, Joule Global Holdings, N.V., which was based in the Netherlands; and Joule Global Stichting, which appears to be the ultimate controlling entity. According to Joule executives, Podesta was added to the board not because of his expertise in the energy sector, but his “considerable expertise…in the realm of public policy as well as partnering with the public sector.”
In other words, it was Podesta’s political clout and relationships that Joule ultimately valued. Ostensibly, that would include Podesta’s relationship to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The report continues, stating that “two months after Podesta joined the board, Vladimir Putin’s Rusnano announced that it would invest up to one billion rubles into Joule Unlimited, which amounts to $35 million. That represents one fifth of the entire amount of investment dollars Joule collected from 2007 to 2013.”
Rusnano is a controversial Russian state-owned company founded in 2007 that is closely associated with the nation’s Political-Military elite.
So just how much did John Podesta benefit financially from the energy firm’s $35 million grant from Russia? That is unknown, as the Clinton loyalist failed to disclose his relationship with the company.
In addition to Podesta’s shady dealings with Russian oligarchs, the Government Accountability Institute report details a number of other schemes that occurred during the so-called Russian reset initiative including:
• A major technology transfer component of the Russian reset overseen by Hillary Clinton substantially enhanced the Russian military’s technological capabilities, according to both the FBI and the U.S. Army.
• Russian government officials and American corporations participated in the technology transfer project overseen by Hillary Clinton’s State Department that funnelled tens of millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation.
• A Podesta-headed think tank which wrote favorably about the Russian reset while apparently receiving millions from Kremlin linked Russian oligarchs via an offshore LLC.
