Inexplicably, presumed GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s name came up in the 339-page report written by the Democrats on the House Select Committee on Benghazi not once, not twice, but 23 times. If that were not strange enough, that total was greater than the combined total of references to both Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, two of the former Navy SEALs killed in the infamous Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic mission and nearby CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya.
Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was also killed, was mentioned 85 times, according to Republicans on the same committee, The Daily Caller reported. That might even seem reasonable, except when you compare it to the number of times the word “Republican” was mentioned — 200.
“Decades in the future, historians will look back on this investigation as a case study in how not to conduct a credible investigation,” the report said, more than a little ironically. “They will showcase the proliferation of Republican abuses as a chief example of what happens when politicians are allowed to use unlimited taxpayer dollars — and the formidable power of Congress — to attack their political foes.”
