State numbers confirm 65,000 people have switched from Democrat to Republican

There already is plenty of controversy involved in this year’s presidential race.

That has sparked more voter interest than usual, Centre County Election Director Joyce McKinley told 6 News Monday.

She said a number of registered voters are switching political parties.

New information from the state of Pa. confirms that 65,000 voters have changed their party affiliation from Democrat to Republican since January.

Many are saying that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump has had a major influence on this year’s election.

Hillary Clinton is the leader for the Democratic Party nomination.

March 28 is the deadline to register to vote in the state’s April 26 primary.
