Trey Gowdy was easily re-elected to Congress and is prepared to push forward on his congressional investigation into Hilary Clinton. If Rudy Giuliani or Chris Christie are appointed by President Elect Donald Trump to head the Justice Department, the former First Lady might actually be forced to stand trial for her alleged crimes – finally!
“Yet there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to prove Secretary Clinton had specific intent to violate a statute which specifically provides for the lower statute which specifically provides for the lower standard of gross negligence,” FBI Director James Comey said about the decision not to press charges against Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information.
Trey Gowdy, and a host of other legal professionals, feel James Comey did not need to prove criminal intent in order to indict Hillary Clinton, Freedom Daily notes. Numerous other Americans who have been convicted and even jailed, for mishandling classified information, were not accused of intending to do anything criminal or nefarious with the documents they improperly saved or stored.
“It would appear the investigation is back to the status quo ante, which means Director Comey believes Secretary Clinton was indeed extremely careless in her handling of classified material, yet there is insufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to prove Secretary Clinton had specific intent to violate a statute which specifically provides for the lower scienter standard of gross negligence,” Gowdy said.
The Republican Representative from South Carolina won his fourth term in office by garnering 67 percent of the vote. Gowdy defeated three other candidates to earn the opportunity to return to his seat, Western Journalism reports.
Donald Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race has sparked some exciting rumors about the future of Trey Gowdy. Some are saying the Representative’s name is being floated for consideration for the Attorney General’s position.
Trey Gowdy at the head of the Department of Justice would likely be part of Hillary’s worst nightmare. The Representative has been vocal in his opposition to how the FBI handled the mishandling of classified information investigation.
On Sunday, the South Carolina statesman sent FBI Director James Comey a letter. The missive detailed Gowdy’s objection to Comey’s announcement the FBI would be standing by its original decision not to charge Clinton with a crime.
“I disagreed with Director Comey in July and I disagree with him today,” Gowdy said in a media release in a statement released Sunday. He went on to say the FBI Director was wrong when he claimed the lack of provable criminal intent was not necessary to prove Hillary violated federal law.
“There is sufficient evidence, both direct and circumstantial, upon which a jury could conclude an intent to violate the law. This evidence includes concealment of evidence, destruction of evidence and false exculpatory statements — all of which fall under the general heading of consciousness of guilt,” Gowdy continued.
Do you think Trey Gowdy would make a superb attorney general? Will Hillary Clinton get indicted after Trump takes office? Or perhaps even pardoned before Barack Obama leaves the White House?
