You may think of tuberculosis as an old-timey disease that people in grainy black-and-white newsreels got. However, thanks to President Barack Obama’s refugee plan, this deadly disease has not only made a comeback, but has spread all across America.
According to Breitbart, Idaho became the latest state to report cases of active tuberculosis among refugees who had been resettled there. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported that seven refugees resettled in the state between 2011 and 2015 have had the potentially deadly lung infection. Sadly, Idaho is far from the only state where refugees with active tuberculosis infections have been resettled. Six other states have reported active infections among refugees as well.
Louisiana “led” the pack with 21 active infections among refugees reported there. Florida had 11 and Colorado, 10. In Kentucky, nine refugees in one county alone were diagnosed with the disease. North Dakota had four in one county. Indiana also reported four cases of tuberculosis. Reports claimed that of the 4,650 refugees resettled in Idaho between 2011 and 2015, 21 percent tested positive for latent tuberculosis infection. In Vermont, that number was as high as 35 percent.
