Hillary Clinton’s fans (and everybody at the FBI) probably thought the email server scandal would disappear after the Bureau declined to charge her with any wrongdoing. Of course, the opposite happened, and even many left-leaning American voters are now disillusioned and disgusted.
FBI Director James Comey said investigators didn’t see evidence of “clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information” on Hillary’s part. However, a video has since surfaced that may have Comey eating those words.
Mark Hemingway of the Weekly Standard reports:
In his own words, Comey called her “extremely careless,” but the legal standard for criminal activity is “gross negligence”. There’s been a lot of head scratching about the the distinction. Further, both “gross negligence” and being “extremely careless” imply that Hillary Clinton’s actions were unintentional on some level.
However, in 2000, Hillary Clinton told Stan Lee (yes, of Marvel Comics fame) at a dinner party, “As much as I’ve been investigated, why would I ever want to do email?” The video provides more than a strong suggestion that Clinton’s email arrangement was deliberately designed to evade accountability from investigators. That strikes me as more than simple negligence, and speaks directly to intent.
While this video may not be enough to prompt a new investigation into Clinton’s wrongdoing, that may not even matter. As long as enough voters are exposed to such evidence before November, it could turn the election further in Donald Trump’s favor.
