Which party needs to unify?
This weekend’s convention of the Nevada Democratic Party showed just how deep the divisions run between supporters of Hillary Clinton and those of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. The convention erupted into chaos as supporters of Sanders accused Clinton supporters of attempting to steal the convention for the former Secretary of State. The occasion was marred by loud protests by supporters of Sanders and even what some are reporting was a physical altercation between attendants.
When California Senator Barbara Boxer, a Clinton supporter, stepped in to ask the crowd for calm, the Senator was rebuffed with extreme prejudice.
“I bring a message from Bernie Sanders and I bring a message from Hillary Clinton,” she told the crowd. “We need civility in the Democratic Party. Civility.” When her attempts failed, Boxer had what can only be described as a meltdown.
“I grew up in Brooklyn. I’m not afraid of bullies,” Boxer yelled over a chorus angry Sanders supporters. “I’m for Hillary Clinton and she’s for all of us.”
“Keep on booing and boo yourselves out of this election.” Boxer added.
