Darrel Issa does not mince words and always wants to get to the truth. The House Oversight Committee member took advantage of every minute of his time on Wednesday when he hammered away at FBI Director James Comey’s responses about the Hillary Clinton email investigation and immunity deals being handed out like “candy.”
“Is he destroying evidence relevant to congressional inquiries, and I’ll answer it for you: yes, he is. And what are you going to do about it?” the California Republican representative asked Comey when referencing the deeds of Hillary’s IT guy, Paul Combetta.
It appears neither the FBI nor the Justice Department is at all interested in holding anyone from Hillary Clinton’s office responsible for their actions.
“That’s not something I can comment on,” Comey replied.
Paul Combetta was one of Hillary Clinton’s staffers granted immunity by the FBI.
Darrel Issa, also an attorney, proceeded to school James Comey on the rules governing the granting of immunity deals.
“For the record, the Department of Justice does not grant immunity without checking with federal law enforcement to see whether it will impact any ongoing investigation,” Issa said.
The Republican was not done lecturing and chastising the FBI director. Issa wanted to know why Cheryl Mills, Heather Samuelson, and others were granted immunity without notifying Congress—the governing body was still investigating the mishandling of classified emails at the State Department.
“When you granted immunity to these five individuals, you took them out of the reach of prosecution for crimes committed related to destruction of documents or withholding or other crimes pursuant to congressional subpoenas,” Issa said.
Comey meekly noted he “didn’t think” any of Hillary’s staffers were given blanket immunity.
“Oh really?” Issa responded. “Now, we are not allowed to make your immunities public, but I’m going to take the privilege of making one part of it public. I read them. You gave immunity from ‘destruction’ to both of those attorneys [Mills and Samuelson].”
Even though Clinton was ordered to preserve all emails at the launch of the investigation, Combetta reportedly continued to hit the delete button and then used the BleachBit military-grade software to ensure no trace of the information was left.
As previously reported by the Angry Patriot, Paul Combetta was allegedly posting on Reddit to garner advice on the best way to really and truly and thoroughly forever remove email messages from a server.
Do you think the FBI completely mishandled the Hillary Clinton investigation and gave her special treatment not afforded to We the People?
