Bill Clinton was out stumping for his wife over the weekend, and things did not go well…again. While walking in a Labor Day parade in Detroit, the former president was heckled, and the video of the scene has now gone viral. Hillary skipped walking in a similar parade in Cleveland and instead appeared in front of the very small crowd that showed up to hear her speak.
“No NAFTA, BOY!” was the 3-word heckling chant Bill Clinton tried to ignore while grinning his way through the parade.
Hillary Clinton, like all Democrats before her, is banking on the support of Union workers to win in November.
However, workers, unions or otherwise, have a long memory and are unwilling to let Bill Clinton forget how his NAFTA deal cost them both jobs and money.
“She supported the North American Free Trade Agreement, and she supported China’s entrance into the World Trade Organization — another one of her husband’s colossal mistakes. She supported the job-killing trade deal with South Korea. She supported the Trans-Pacific Partnership,” Donald Trump said when lambasting Hillary Clinton’s support for NAFTA.
According to a PolitiFact report, Hillary no longer supports either NAFTA or the TPP deal she once referred to as the “gold standard.”
Hillary’s views on any particular topic change to coincide with the latest poll results and comments by focus groups.
“I think everybody is in favor of free and fair trade. I think NAFTA is proving its worth,” Hillary Clinton said when heralding the trade deal, which put American businesses and workers on an uneven playing field with their foreign counterparts in 1996.
In 2007, when running a failed campaign against president Obama and all the ills of NAFTA as predicted by conservatives had come to pass, Hillary referred to her husband’s once cherished deal as a “mistake” that “hurt a lot of American workers.”
Donald Trump’s successful business background makes him THE better authority on the matter, of which his position has never wavered.
