There has been an ongoing debate in the United States as to whether President Obama is inept or purposely trying to marginalize our country on all fronts. Each side has valid points to make in the debate. Regardless, Mr. Obama’s actions have made our nation vulnerable on many levels.
A new video short posted to Twitter by FNC’s FOX & Friends tackles Obama’s inconsistencies with the truth on the subject of the Islamic State. The video illustrates how Mr. Obama says one thing to the American people, while his most potent experts on the subject say almost the exact opposite. Again, the question begs to be asked—is this incompetence on Mr. Obama’s part of purposeful disinformation?

At several critical points in our nation’s struggle with the Islamofascists of the Islamic State, Obama has made statements with a great degree of confidence, exhibiting an almost nonchalant approach to a terror group wreaking havoc across the Middle East. Even as he has called the group “jayvee,” it has established literal armies in six locations around the world.
In 2015, in his State of the Union speech, Obama bragged about “leading a broad coalition” including Arab nations in an effort to degrade and destroy the Islamic State, whom the President refers to as ISIL (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant). He insisted this coalition was a better alternative to “getting involved in another ground war.”
Not 12 days later, while appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, in no uncertain terms, “With the means [Obama] has approved so far, I believe that is an unattainable objective.”
In June 2011, Obama said in an interview that the world was less violent, healthier, and more tolerant than it has been in decades, if not centuries. Mr. Obama intimated that US efforts to thwart the potency of the Islamic State and other Islamofascist terror groups around the world were succeeding.
Yet in February 2015, James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, said bluntly, “When the final accounting is done, 2014 will have been the most lethal year for global terrorism in the 45 years such data has been compiled.”
In December 2015 during a CBS News interview, Obama maintained that ISIL posed no existential threat to the United States. He insisted the homeland has never been more protected, and the American people have never been more defended against Islamofascist aggression.
Six days later, FBI Director James Comey stated for the record, “Their ability to have a safe haven from which to gather resources, people, and plan and plot increases the risk of their ability to mount a sophisticated attack against the homeland.”
Again, in November 2015 during an ABC News interview, Obama insisted the US – and its grand coalition – has “contained” the Islamic State, which was the “goal from the start.” This represented a subtle yet fundamental change in the originally stated goal. Without rebuttal, we know the goal was to “degrade and destroy,” not contain.
Eighteen days later, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, stated clearly, pointedly, and factually, “We have not contained ISIL.”
On June 14, 2016, Mr. Obama again made his way to the microphones to inform us the US was “making significant progress,” and the effort to combat the terror group was “firing on all cylinders.” He said this with a straight face—just two days after a terror attack in Orlando that claimed the second largest loss of life due to terrorism on American soil in our history.
Literally two days later, CIA Director John Brennan said, “Despite all our progress against ISIL on the battlefield and in the financial realm, our efforts have not reduced the group’s terrorism capability and global reach.”
Again, the question needs to asked, is Barack Obama purposefully facilitating American vulnerability to the Islamofascists of the Islamic State, or is he the most intellectually stunted individual ever to be elected to public office?
This debate promises to be one that history will have for long times to come. Mr. Obama is a relatively young man, so he may lend himself to the answer through his future statements and actions post-presidency. But for now, we have to suffer the consequences no matter what that answer is.
