A Muslim “honor killing” is defined as a situation where a relative is killed because he or she has brought dishonor to a family. This only happens overseas, right? Think again.
In a move that has all of the makings of an honor killing, 63-year-old Ohio Muslim father Jamal Mansour shot his daughter, Tahani, after arguing with her, as per Fox News.
This incident is somewhat ominous because the family was very reclusive. Many neighbors noted how they kept to themselves.
Dr. Joan Horvath, who knew of Tahani Mansour, was one of the first to notice this huge red flag:
“I understand that they have children,” she said of the family. “I have never seen the children. I would not recognize them. I’ve seen the father cutting the grass and occasionally the mother puttering with flowers, but I have never seen the children.”
“The thought to me, of a father shooting a daughter, who is normally the apple of a father’s eye, is heartbreaking,” she continued. “What drove him to that? What are the dynamics of a family that made him feel the only way to stop something is to shoot his daughter?”
In this, the first homicide in the Ohio town of Rocky River in two years, more questions than answers abound.
The biggest red flag is in the fact there was an argument immediately before the shooting. The father, of course, is claiming it was an accident.
Interestingly enough, before this father killed his 27-year-old pharmacist daughter, he had had other brushes with the law including contact in 2012 when he had threatened to kill himself if his daughter did not immediately return from a Las Vegas business trip.
America, we are bringing this type of culture into our country. Three dozen “honor killings” among Muslims happened last year in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia. Do we really want them to happen here?
