Rumors have been swirling for some time now that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is on Donald Trump’s vice presidential short-list. The speculation has only been fueled by the fact that Gingrich will be hitting the campaign trail with Trump in the coming days.
When Gingrich joined Tuesday’s Sean Hannity Show to discuss the FBI’s recent decision not to recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton, the topic eventually turned to the former speaker’s own political future.
Sean noted to Gingrich that he is leading a Drudge Poll of potential VP candidates and, after initially evading the question, eventually admitted that he’s one of several candidates being vetted.
“I think they’ve been very clear all along that I’m one of the four or five people being vetted,” Gingrich told Sean.
“When do you think that decision will be made?” Sean asked. Will it be made at the convention? Will he hold the suspense?”
“My guess is that they’ll do it either Thursday or Friday [before the convention] so that it dominates the weekend news going into the convention,” Gingrich responded.
