We are wide aware of Hillary and Bill Clinton’s overturning the political breeze of uninterested U.S. citizens from Dinesh D’Souza’s “Hillary’s America” and from the “Clinton Clash” factual film in a joint attempt to get their hands on money and power.
But at one point, President Bill Clinton was saying the same thing that GOP nominee Donald Trump has been saying this election cycle. In his 1996 State of the Union address, Bill Clinton uttered the following words:
“After years of neglect, this administration has taken a strong stand to stiffen the protection of our borders. We are increasing border controls by 50 percent. We are increasing inspections to prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants. And tonight, I announce I will sign an executive order to deny federal contracts to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.”
Well, that sounds like a good deal for America. Now, if you believe he’s incapable of saying something like this, just see for yourself:
“Let me be very clear about this: We are still a nation of immigrants; we should be proud of it,” he added. “We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new citizen. But we are also a nation of laws.”
An overwhelming majority of conservatives will agree with that statement. However, if you fast forward 20 years, you get the exact opposite from the 42nd president’s wife:
“The American people support comprehensive immigration reform not just because it’s the right thing to do — and it is — but because they know it strengthens families, strengthens our economy, and strengthens our country … We can’t wait any longer for a path to full and equal citizenship,” Hillary Clinton said in May.
The double standard of the Democrats is just absurd, yet if Trump says something like this suddenly everyone loses their minds, and while Bill Clinton was the Democratic hero back in the day by uttering these words, Trump is severely rebuked for the exact same strategy.
