Watch: Trump Finally Comes Face-To-Face With Megyn Kelly And Says These 9 Words

Eight months after the “feud” between Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump first flared up, the two sat down for their first face-to-face interview.

Fox News released a promo Friday for the special Megyn Kelly Presents to air Tuesday, May 17. The spot features the Fox News personality interviewing the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

“Let’s talk about us,” Kelly says to Trump, recalling the Aug. 6, 2015 debate when they first crossed swords.

“I wasn’t so fond of you at the time, I will tell you,” Trump responds. The candidate felt she had unfairly singled him out during the debate for particularly negative questioning.

Kelly met with the presidential candidate at Trump Tower on April 13, CNN Money reported. “Yes, the doormen appeared a bit stunned when I walked in,” the Fox News host recounted to her Kelly File audience the evening after the sit-down. “We met for about an hour, just the two of us, and had a chance to clear the air.”

Kelly conceded during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in February that she asked Trump a “tough question“ during the first Republican debate. “[B]ut they all got tough questions,” she added. “I mean, they want George Washington’s job. So, I’m a member of the press, and we’re supposed to press, and see if they’re worthy.”

Kelly further elaborated: “That opening round of the first debate was all about electability, so we were trying to get to what is your weak spot? What is going to prevent you from getting the nomination? What’s going to prevent you from winning against Hillary (Clinton)?”

Following the debate, Trump went on a Twitter tirade against Kelly, saying she “really bombed” during the debate and calling her a “bimbo” and “overrated.” The candidate went on to refuse to participate in a January Fox News debate after the news network declined to remove Kelly as a moderator. Some pundits believed that may have cost him a victory in the Iowa Caucuses days later.

Trump appeared to learn his lesson and later participated in a Fox debate in March, featuring Kelly as one of the questioners.

The Fox News personality seems to have fared quite well, whether because of, or in spite of, the controversy. The Kelly File is the No. 1 cable news program for the 9 p.m. Eastern time slot. She also inked a book deal and now has a new prime time special in exactly the Barbara Walters-style long-form interview format she wanted.

Other featured guests for her inaugural program include actor Michael Douglas, O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro and transgender actor Laverne Cox.

Meanwhile, Trump looks to have moved on from his feud with Kelly and set his sights on MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough.
