In less than a month, Sean Spicer is slated to become the first press secretary for the Trump administration, and he’s confirmed some telling things about Obama’s priorities.
Spicer suggested that the only reason President Obama imposed sanctions on Russia was because of political motivations. He pointed to the fact that China did far worse without any repercussions.
“Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t,” Spicer said. “China took over a million records. And a White House statement wasn’t even issued… So there is a question about whether there’s a political retribution here versus a diplomatic response.”
Obama is a lame-duck president—there is no doubt about that—but he still insists that the probe isn’t politically motivated. “There is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections that we need to take action,” he said.
However, the president has also said he believes the Russian hacking did more to help Hillary Clinton than it did to help Donald Trump. You have to read between the lines.
President Obama’s announcement on Thursday followed the U.S. intelligence community stating it had connected Russia to the hacking of John Podesta’s emails to his boss Hillary Clinton.
However, the problem, according to Spicer, is that the mainstream media immediately made a rush to judgement about the involvement of Russia without all of the facts. Spicer seemed to indicate that bias was again occurring in a strong and powerful way.
“Everyone in the media wants to jump forward and make a conclusion based off…anonymous sources that are coming out of the intelligence community,” Spicer said. Moreover, Obama’s report on the hacking only proved there were some serious holes in security at the DNC.
Finally, when Obama put out sanctions against Russia, he literally expelled 35 Russian diplomats from their posts. “You haven’t seen a response like that in modern history for any action,” Spicer said.
So, it’s time to yet again call a spade a spade. The media love to talk about Donald Trump’s alleged huge ego, yet they conveniently gloss over how Obama reacts when his pride is broken. These sanctions on Russia are only because Trump hurt his legacy.
Whether or not the Russians hacked into John Podesta’s emails is valueless at the end of the day simply because it was Hillary Clinton’s failure to connect with blue-collar voters that ultimately did her in. Even now, she is still disgustingly trying to play the blame game.
