A new email released by WikiLeaks shows the Democratic National Committee plotted with CNN in devising questions to be asked of then-Republican primary candidate Donald Trump in an April interview. Subject titled “Trump Questions for CNN,” a DNC official with the email username DillonL@dnc.org requested question ideas from his colleagues to send to CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer for the April 25 interview.
The official, who appears to be identified as DNC Research Director Lauren Dillon, sent the following email: “Wolf Blitzer is interviewing Trump on Tues ahead of his foreign policy address on Wed. … Please send me thoughts by 10:30 AM tomorrow.”
The interview was abruptly canceled a few hours later, but a shared list of questions were thought up by the DNC so that they could be used for the next interview. Some of the questions included:
“1. Who helped you write the foreign policy speech you’re giving tomorrow? 2. Which advisors specifically did you talk to? 3. What advice did they give you? 4. Did they give you any advice that you chose not to take?”
Other proposed questions explored Saudi Arabia’s alleged involvement in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, a pre-preemptive strike against North Korea and the possibility of court martials for members of the military who didn’t follow orders.
Neither CNN nor the DNC have made an official comment on the reveal.
